Brief History

Accra Academy Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. was founded on 15th May, 2003 to provide financial services to its members in Accra Academy Senior High School. However, as the credit union progressed, its membership was open to people within its catchment areas. The Credit Union started as a welfare association under the initiative of Hon. Peter Nortsu- Kotoe and Dr. Shine Agatha Ofori, who were staff of Accra Academy at the time. It was affiliated to Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association (CUA), the parent organization, on 10th October, 2004 and registered with the Department of Co-operatives on 7th April, 2006.

The objectives of the credit union are:

  • To promote thrift among its members by providing a means of savings
  • To provide loans to its members for provident or productive purposes at a fairly low but competitive rate of interest
